The title ‘Architect’ is protected by law and usable by only a member of the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects). A member of this organization must have studied to obtain the correct degree. Using an affiliate member of the RIBA would not necessarily provide anything above and beyond what an architectural technician could provide to you for your project.
Anyone can provide drawings to gain planning permission or work in building regulation drawings in the housing sector, but someone you can trust and who is experienced in the sector is always the best solution. The Architect will normally charge the suggested rates from the RIBA whereas an Architectural service will normally charge by the time taken to carry out the work.
